Te Pregunto (song)
Lyrics by Isabela Elizondo and Xavier Cintrón (2024)
“Te Pregunto” explores the abundance of complex emotions that come with falling in love with another. In a serene self-reflection of our vulnerability, peace, and deep affection for another, it uncovers the calmness that their love embraces us with but also the uncertainty that we might encounter as we take a risk and open our hearts to that person.
Contigo
Composed in 2024 (recorded at The Bridge Studio, Berklee College of Music)
A string orchestra piece to be continued as part of a Suite. It delves into the multifaceted nature of love, exploring themes of intimacy, longing, and the profound connection that transcends distance. Through rich harmonies and emotive textures, it seeks to capture universal emotions that resonate deeply with anyone who has experienced the intensity and vulnerability of love. The suite serves as a celebration of the enduring bonds that unite, no matter the challenges or distances faced.

Zafra
Composed in 2024 (Recorded in Futura Studios in Boston, MA)
This piece draws inspiration from Puerto Rico’s 20th-century history, a time marked by the prominence of sugar plantations and the labor exploitation of jíbaros by landowners. Through rich textures, expressive melodic lines, and harmonically dense layers, the music portrays their struggles, resilience, and journey with depth and nuance.
Canción Primaveral
Composed in 2023 (recorded at Boston Conservatory at Berklee)
It is inspired by a poem with the same title by the Spanish poet, playwright, prose writer, and theater director Federico García Lorca. Compositionally, the piece is inspired by the works of composers such as Franz Schubert, Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco, Heitor Villa-Lobos, and Arnold Schoenberg. The composition is set as a conversation between the soprano and the piano. In addition, the piece involves extended techniques on both instruments as well as a rich non-tonal harmonic language, with the intent of creating a more contemporary and experimental atmosphere.

String Quartet No. 1
Composed in 2023 (performed by Mivos String Quartet in November, 2024)
String Quartet No. 1, En Búsqueda del Camino: Inspiraciones Autóctonas draws its inspiration from the Puerto Rican tradition. Folk music elements, rhythms like plena and bomba, as well as styles of peasant music like Seis Milonga, SeisVillarán and Seis Mariandá are represented in the piece. Furthermore, the work seeks to portray the principal national instrument, the Cuatro, into a different context.
Agobio
